Who we are

Wise Roofing (also known as RG Wise Roofing) is a family-run roofing business based at Quadrant House, Broad Street Mall, Reading RG1 7QE, run by Rob Wise. We only collect what we need to quote for and carry out roofing work. We never sell your details or add you to marketing lists.

What we collect

When you get in touch

Whether you use the form on this website, phone, text or email us, we'll have whatever you choose to give us. That usually means your name, phone number, email address, postcode or property address, what you need doing, and any photos you send of the roof.

When we quote for or carry out work

The property address, access arrangements, notes and before-and-after photos of the roof, your written quotation, invoices and payment records, and the details of your 10-year written guarantee.

If you apply for finance

If you choose to spread the cost of a new roof with finance, we pass the details needed for your application to the finance provider, who will process them under their own privacy notice and may run a credit check. We don't make lending decisions ourselves.

Reviews

We show reviews on our testimonials page with the month and postcode area only (for example "RG4"), as they appear on Checkatrade. Reviews you leave on Checkatrade are also covered by Checkatrade's own privacy policy. Ask us and we'll remove a review from this website.

This website

This website doesn't use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. Our web server keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) for security. To stop spam, the enquiry form briefly keeps a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address for up to an hour.

How we use it, and our lawful basis

  • To reply to your enquiry, visit and quote. You've asked us to, so this is a step towards entering a contract with you.
  • To carry out the work, invoice you and honour our 10-year guarantee. This is needed to perform our contract with you.
  • To keep business and tax records. We have a legal obligation to keep accounting records.
  • To arrange finance, only if you ask us to. This is a step towards the finance agreement you've requested.
  • To keep the website and form secure and free of spam. This is in our legitimate interests.
  • To show reviews. With the reviewer's agreement, which can be withdrawn at any time.

Who we share it with

  • the companies that run our email (Google), phones and website hosting, which hosts this website on a server in the UK
  • suppliers, scaffolders and licensed waste carriers we use on your job, who only receive the address and details they need
  • the finance provider, if you apply for finance
  • your insurer or loss adjuster, if you ask us to deal with them on an insurance claim
  • our accountant, and HMRC or other authorities where the law requires it.

Some providers, such as Google, may process data outside the UK. When they do, they use the safeguards UK law requires.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that don't go ahead: up to 12 months, then deleted.
  • Customer and job records: for as long as your 10-year guarantee runs, and at least six years after the end of the financial year the work was done in, as HMRC requires.
  • Website server logs: as set by our hosting provider, usually a few weeks.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it (unless we have to keep it, for example for tax records), restrict or object to how we use it, withdraw consent, and ask for your information in a format you can take elsewhere.

To use any of these rights, email rgwiseroofing@gmail.com or call 01189 680754. There's no charge, and we'll reply within one month.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please talk to us first and we'll put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
